PAO joins DESIGN TRUST Critically Homemade Initiative
SEPT 21, 2020
“DESIGN TRUST: Critically Homemade” was born in response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the design community and beyond, the initiative was conceptualised by Marisa Yiu (Co-Founder / Executive Director of Design Trust) to encourage creatives to critically examine the drastic changes in the world and participate in the formation of a collective to these new norms. Since May, Design Trust has been preparing this community platform to reduce our social distancing “distance”, to inspire creative collaboration, and to drive our community forward with positive momentum.
This micro-initiative has challenged designers and teams to create a homemade prototype object, prompting them to address or offer solutions to current social, educational, and environmental needs. In parallel with a virtual “exhibition” online, the prototypes are being showcased at Soho House’s House Studio from September 21st to October 4th, bringing together over 70 Hong Kong based designers, regional friends, and international collaborators to share their innovative prototypes, for a positive show of strength and creativity.
